Chill Rabit: A Display Font That Actually Delivers
Designer Notes You’ll Actually Use
- Test in black and white first. Chill Rabit’s warmth comes from structure—not color—so if it doesn’t sing in grayscale, it won’t later.
- Check small-size readability early. At under 24pt in UI or fine print, letters like “a”, “e”, and “s” begin to merge. Reserve it for impact, not information density.
- Mock it up—on real surfaces. Try it on a physical product label, a fabric swatch, or a phone screen—not just in Figma. Rendering shifts everything.
- Compare case treatments. Uppercase feels bolder and more structured; lowercase leans softer and more conversational. Choose deliberately.
- Review spacing in context. Kerning is thoughtful, but tracking adjustments are often needed in all-caps lockups or tight poster lines.
- Pair it wisely. Next to a strong serif font, Chill Rabit gains gravitas. Beside a neutral sans serif, it gains clarity. Against a script or handwritten font? Only if the script is extremely restrained—otherwise, they compete. Avoid pairing it with another display font unless you’re aiming for deliberate dissonance (and have the skill to control it).
- Confirm licensing—before client work. Chill Rabit is a commercial font, but usage rights vary by vendor. Double-check permissions for web embedding, app integration, and resale in templates.
